Yes he’s pretty blue and almost lacy like? I know nothing about breeds but yes he is quite large.I do not think the rooster in the first post of this thread is a Splash Rosecomb Bantam.
The picture in the first post shows that he is colored blue, not splash, and that he has a single comb not a rose comb.
I do not think he is a bantam either, based on some of the later photos that show him with the hens.
I also feed mine tuna when they’re molting. Might not help but it doesn’t hurt them!Maybe I should start another thread as this is off topic but I like the audience here. One of my gals is severely molting. One night was 30°, tonight is 38 and then back to the 40’s for awhile. She does have new pin feathers coming in but some bad naked spots too. I feed Nutrena all flock 20% protein. Two to three times a week I give extras like tuna, scrambled eggs or meal worms, spinach. Then I read to cut out treats during molt? What if anything should I do for her? These pictures do no justice as she walks away when she sees a camera but her neck and rear are also bad. Luckily the new rooster seems to leave her alone.View attachment 4242703View attachment 4242702
Good to know. Thanks. I feel so bad for her.I also feed mine tuna when they’re molting. Might not help but it doesn’t hurt them!
That’s a pelleted feed? What is the protein?I've been feeding mine meatbird for the extra protein. They really enjoy it and go after it first right now. I've been mixing meatbird and layer to make sure they still get some calcium and they pick and choose what they need most.
Thanks. I feel a bit better from that and other comments. Just making sure I’m helping and not hurting her.Several of mine look like they have partied hard and struggling to get home! The cold weather will bring on the new feathers faster.
It just seems so wrong to molt in the late fall and winter when it is darn cold. I used to worry a great deal about it. But even with very cold temperatures they do quite well.
And I at least read the new posts too - sooo you should start a new thread. More people will see a new thread.
