I currently have 7 chicks under a big old broody hen. I stream this fairly often on Twitch. Pop on by if you want to take a look! There is no need to sign up to Twitch to view the stream
They are (as of the time of this post) currently 36 days old. Little teenagers now!
The Blurb information from the stream:
Our Coop houses 5 fully grown ladies and currently 7 big chicks. They all have access to fresh water and food daily, as well as special treats like watermelon and cucumber on hotter days. The larger ladies free-range for most of the day but have access to shade from the sun at all times in a secure Chicken run.
Watch Biscuit, the Orpington x Brahma as she carefully watches over her 7 fluff balls. She calls them to food and treats, showing them how to scratch, forage, socialize, behave, and generally 'how to chicken'. Biscuit and the youngsters are housed securely in a smaller run within the main run that has an attached coop for shade and security. There's also a large clear plastic tarp overhead to keep the rain off the little ones. They are let out a few times throughout the day (now they are large enough) with the rest of the flock to socialize and have a bit of free range, plus, they are getting too big for this enclosure to be in it all day without a good run about!
In the background, you may see Cookie (Black with the copper neck), Waffle (Floppy combed Legbar), Flapjack (Straight combed Legbar), and Muffin (White and Salmon Faverolles) going about their daily business. All the flock has met the babies now, and all socializing well.
We know that the one buff-coloured chick has a slight cleft eye (its right eye) but it looks like it's growing out as it gets bigger! No idea on the breeds/genders of the chicks, they are straight-run hatchlings from mixed birds.
