I have a mixed breed hen that is almost a year old. She has been consistently laying since last summer; she lays an egg a day that has some calcium deposits on the blunt end which makes it recognizable.
4 days ago, I didn't see her egg in the nesting box but when I dug around I found a thin shelled and broken egg.
3 days ago another thin shelled broken egg in the box
2 days ago she laid during the night, another thin shelled that was broken on the ground.
Yesterday I found an intact egg under the roost (with scant blood on the shell).
This morning I found another intact egg with a normal shell on it.
I removed the rooster from the pen about 5 or 6 days ago as he got a cut on his wattles that bled profusely and the hens were picking at it. This has been the only recent change.
Any ideas whats on the go?
