Hello All….long week for one of my 9 mos old hens. She was our large roosters favorite gal…noticed last week she was walking squatted and not herself, found very large wounds on both sides of her appears to be from him mounting her all day. He is also less than a year and spurs are short nubs no points. I cleaned the wounds well and stitched a few areas to start the healing leaving part open in case of drainage, then noticed her pushing like to pass an egg for the next day. I started the epsom salt warm baths after a few of those no change so used KY and and did a digital check very large egg REALLY stuck did what I could the help dislodge without breaking it and she passed it about 20 min later followed about an hour later by a soft shelled possibly broken egg unless she broke it trying to eat it after as I did not see this one pass. She is healing up great from the large wounds one totally closed one still in progress. She is eating and drinking and active. Laying 1 egg daily which is her usual before all this. I still see her pushing at different times of the day and she feels a bit swollen like a small water balloon on her lower belly. I have her separated still until the other wound heals as well and
gave her vitamins and calcium and a couple doses of Tylan 50 as it’s the only antibiotic I have. Normal poops and great appetite and talking as usual. Any ideas or suggestion??
