Hi all, I'm on my first attempt at incubating. I put my eggs in the incubator about 6pm on Sunday 5th may. I candled about day 16 and removed 5 of the 16. They were mostly clear, one with a blood ring. I wend into lockdown on day 18. Temp has been fairly consistent, around 100-101. I thought I might have had some pips today but nothing. I'm wondering if I've miscounted my days and I'm only on 20 today? Any advise much appreciated!!

Be patient. There is always the possibility that your thermometer is reading on the high end. It is not at all unusual for eggs to exceed the 21 day hatching period. Welcome to BYC, and good luck for a successful hatch.

Thank you. I suppose it's normal to be impatient! Just worried that I've done something wrong with them. We also set 8 under a broody silkie at the same time. Nothing happening with those either. That's why I'm thinking I've maybe got my dates wrong :-/

They always tell people that once the eggs go on lockdown - to sit on their hands and not intervene. It's that hard for everyone - fretting, pacing and impatience is all part of the deal.

1 today!!! Day 28! Was just about to get rid of everything and found it under the hen!!! Newly hatched so put mum back down quickly - didn't get a look to see if anything else had pipped. Still nothing in the incubator. Day 28!!!!! I can't believe it!!!
