We have a feather legged maran with a prolapse that we've been treating since Monday. We soak her 1 - 2 times a day in epsom and Dr Bronners, then clean the area, apply Vetericyn, then with a gloved hand re-insert the prolapse with Preparation H and some Monistat cream (because I suspect she has a little yeast as well). We are re-inserting it 1 - 2 times a day, but within an hour or two, it re-prolapses.

She's in our garage with a blanket over the kennel and she hasn't laid and egg since we brought her in on Monday. We withheld food for the first 24 hours, but she does have water with extra vitamins. I have given her some yogurt and oats trying to keep her protein low and calcium high.

Any other suggestions? She doesn't seem to be in pain, and she's eating and drinking just fine with the limited food we are giving her (because I am trying to keep her stools minimal and keep her from laying).

It sometimes take awhile for the prolapse to stay in, at least from some of the threads here. I probably wouldn’t feed just oats. Do you have some scratch grains? Or perhaps just start her chicken feed back now. Oats can be a problem in large amounts (see below.) It takes 3-4 days of limited light to stop laying. 16 hours of dark and 8 hours of daylight each day. I think that you are doing what it takes to help her.
