Update: I had to intervene last night and help (coconut oil worked amazingly!) I softened the membrane and “cracked” off the shell. Put her back in incubator an within 10 mins she broke out of the membrane. This morning she’s almost fully dry and seems healthy! Thank you!

Help. I don’t know if I should help or even how to help it? Or just leave it? Been trying to hatch since early this morning. S/he is still trying and opening and closing beak in same spot but not moving around like it’s stuck. Still chirping but I see a little blood. Two other healthy chicks have hatched yesterday. (Oddly enough only one is hatching per day.) first time hatching!! Any advice is appreciated!!

Chicks can take up to 24 hours to hatch completely. They take frequent naps because it is very tiring and takes all their energy. If there's still blood and the chick is moving it's beak in an eating motion it is still absorbing it's yolk sac.

Thank you!!! I knew they can take that long but I just didn’t expect the egg to be open that much. Guess I’ve just never seen it before. When should I intervene if necessary? Once it stops the “eating motion?” I don’t want to cause unnecessary harm.

Just wait till tomorrow. Make sure to keep the membrane moist as well. If it dries up, it'll be really hard. To do that, you can frequently brush the egg with some water using a paintbrush. When it stops the eating motion (not really a pro, but i think this guess is good) Give her some time. she'll regain some strength and attempt again. so, all in all, i suggest to wait tomorrow
