I have a crested duck (sorry, not a chicken, but i'm desperate). My two ducks sort of free range my property and go to a duck house at night. It was 4 in the afternoon on Thursday when we noticed only one was around (they usually stick together), they were both together an hour or so earlier. We thought maybe something got her, but today I found her in the back yard. She was walking funny and usually is loud and doesn't like to get too close to us. She let me pick her up and I brought her in the house. I can not find an injury. She has never laid an egg, she is about 7 months old. Her tail is down. In the picture there is a little water in the tub and I know its hard to tell, but she is actually standing up. I tried feeling for an egg internally (felt nothing, but I'm not sure how to do it). I set her in a warm bath, gave her a rolaid that I crushed in warm water (what I had), she is eating a bit, standing now, but looks uncomfortable. Should I be doing something else? I have her in the house in a warm dark room for now.
Update- no changes day 2, even though she was walking before, now she won't try unless there is water in the tub. She will hold herself up on one leg if I slip a hand under the other foot, so weight bearing.

Hmmm... there is at least one good duck person here, but I forget who it is. I think there’s a duck forum, as well. It’s ao hard to tell what’s going on, and I’m afraid I would only be guessing. I hope you get some help!

I had an egg bound hen did the leg out thing. We did everything like the warm bath and trying to feel ourselves. Finally took her to the vet and the egg was too far to feel but an X-ray showed it. Calcium supplements at the vet fixed it. I would suggest finding an avian vet if not ring one and see what calcium supplements you can use that may work. All my love to ducky.

Rolaids will not help to replace calcium. Tums has calcium in it. Ducks are not my specialty, but they can suffer from niacin deficiency, so giving poultry vitamins or some crushed BComplex into a treat daily would be good to start.

Hopefully a duck expert will chime in, or post on the duck forum, under the Forum heading above.

Edited to correct that Rolaids does contain calcium as Tums, but it als has magnesium, so not a good thing to use for a calcium supplement for poultry.

Not sure i can add much, but ask more questions. Are both ducks female? If so, is the other one laying yet? If the other is male, does he mate her? Obsessively?

Since they free range, I would guess it is possible for her to have gotten into something she shouldn't have. I believe watching her for a while, and caring for her inside will hopefully give you more clues. The Tums are a good idea, if she is egg bound. Also try massaging her belly, stroking toward the vent.

As far as poop, did you take a picture? Duck poop can be all sorts of alarming, depending on what they get into. May be bad, may be nothing to be alarmed about.

Let's enlist advice from @Miss Lydia also
