Stuck in a stereotype?

I've gotten to where I say "Hello? I'm single because I've MET your husband!~"
I was invited to a wedding tonight and thought about this thread,, this is how it went: "My friend Larry is getting married tonight (at a local bar no less), there should be plenty of single men there!"
Thanks,, I'll pass!

I'm emo. >.>
I got the emo hairstyle, skinny jeans, and Converse. I even wear 99% black. I have a lack of band tee-shirts, but I have at least one!

Yeah, same-day weddings, bars and single locals COMBINED = no thanks for me too I think. I moved into this town a few months ago and got invited to local karaoke night at a neighbor's house. Went every other Saturday night, had a great time, everyone seemed friendly until one woman didn't like me chatting with her husband and within one week that turned into mass hysteria and a small town mob mentality began and soon other women were pretty sure I gave their husbands "certain looks" too. I was then told I was not welcome to karaoke night anymore. To be honest, I was horribly hurt and was sad that my new neighbors all believed this stuff.

With time, I'm getting over it. It does help to laugh about it. Sounds so juvenile but I guess they weren't my friends anyway if they don't know me better. The funny thing is, you should see these husbands! Not attractive, missing teeth, beer guts, grubby, gross beards, etc. (My apologies to any men reading that fit this description). Hardly men I would try to steal. lol. You couldn't give one to me, never mind me steal one.

And yes, now a couple of neighbors have started waving again as they drive by, and so I'm pretty sure they think I must just be a lesbian since I haven't stolen any men yet. And people wonder why I'm a loner!

LOL,, I've had friends try and set me up with other women because of course since I don't chase every man I see I'm gay! I laugh about it with my lesbian friends because even they know I'm straight! The stereotypes of single women and men are just priceless!
I'm sorry you got hurt,, those people were obviously stupid people!

Yeah, and like your friends of "Larry's", why do they even assume we're looking? I recently got out of a long, bad relationship, and although I am NOT a man hater by any means, I am enjoying owning my own house and living on my own for the time being. Why does everyone think we're dying to find a guy? Or a woman, lol. I am loving leaving the dishes in the sink, getting up late, not bothering with makeup, etc. At least for now. It's a refreshing change actually! I can do whatever I want.

Lol, you can both talk to mr saddi all you want, i'm not worried. Generally when a woman is worried about a single gal around "her man" (warning sign if she calls him "her man"), it means either she knows he's a dog, or she's very insecure and is clinging. So it's not about you as a man-thief, it's about her insecurities about her relationship.

AMEN!!! I'm about the safest single woman you can have around your husband! I'm divorced because I was cheated on, I would never do that to another woman!

If you can not trust a man around another woman, you should not be married to that man.

Yes, I agree! I always wanted to tell them "I can't steal someone that doesn't want to be stolen!" But I never said that because it might imply that I wanted to steal "their man", lol. It's so true though, if their marriage is so great, what are they worried about?

And like WriterofWords said, I'm hardly anyone to worry about. I do tend to hang out with men more, but it's not to pick them up! I just hate how catty women can be, I hate all the gossip and trips to the stupid mall, etc. I'd rather hang out with the guys and drink beer by a fire where no one gives a crap what I am wearing.
