Could changing pine shavings in the brooder cause a chick to sound the slightest bit congested? I just notice it a little when she breaths coming from her nose. No other symptoms. Thanks

Hi,

Were you already using the same pine shavings or different bedding?

New shavings, if not used to it, or if they were a little dusty, could cause some respiratory issues.

I'd give her some vitamin water. If you don't have any, most use Poultry Cell, NutriDrench, but there's others as well. That helps support them if they are fighting off anything. I'd monitor her though as hopefully she'll get past this on her own. If she gets worse, she may be getting a respiratory infection. They can get over those themselves too, but with little chicks, I'd probably lean towards an antibiotic.

Keep us updated how she's doing!

Thank you! It’s a new bag from tractor supply and although the same large flake shavings we get these definitely looked more fine.
The chicks are on medicated feed, can I do poultry cell or nutridrench while using?
