Patriot is about 5-6 months, basically an EE that one of my broody hens hatched. 4 survived, and one has since passed to what i suspect was either an impacted crop or sour crop. There is one cockerel and one pullet (who is now laying) who are totally healthy.

Patriot caught my eye when he started being unable to walk correctly. He’d take a few steps then kind of sink back onto his haunches. This was a couple weeks ago, and he’s been in the house ever since and is not making any progress. We’ve tried selenium, rooster booster, cooked eggs, etc. he’s just declining and i know i need to put him down, I’m just trying to get up the nerve.

Then tonight, my daughter snapped a couple pics of his mouth and there’s some weird yellow gunk in his mouth and throat. Any suggestions as to what the may be? Is it contagious, treatable, anything? TIA!

I'm sorry to hear you lost some chicks and this one is sick too.
I do see the yellow patches, but there is a larger one on the side as well?
To me it looks like Canker (Trichomoniasis).
Treatment is with Metronidazole, dosage is one 250mg a day for 5days.

Is his crop emptying overnight?
The lesions/canker is likely making it hard for him to eat/drink properly.
I would make him a wet mash out of chick starter if you have that. Get him hydrated.
You can give him some Poultry Cell for a few days, direct dose at 1cc per 3lbs of weight. Eliminate the Selenium period.

This is contagious, so you you will want to treat the flock's water as well.
Use Acidified Copper sulfate at 1/4teaspoon per gallon of water for 3 days in a row once a month to help control it.

Canker apparently has a very rotten odor. Does your chicken have that? Without a vet to test the yellow plaques in the beak, it is hard to know what you are dealing with, since plaques can be a sign of bacterial, protozoan, viral, and fungal diseases. Canker, a protozoan disease, is common in pigeons, so if you have pigeons around, that might be problem. Fowl pox, a virus carried by mosquitoes, would only be a possibility this time of year, if there had been pox in the flock last fall, and if shed scabs may have remained in the bedding or soil. ILT, another virus, may cause yellow plaques, and causes severe coughing and gasping, plus nasal discharge. Bloody mucus from the beak is common. I hope that you can get this under control, and I would probably see a vet, or get the FishZole (metronidazole) online ASAP to start treatment.

Thanks all!! I’ll try to answer all the questions here...there’s no odor, and his crop is emptying, as far as i can tell. He’s only eat what we force feed. There are no bugs around right now, I’m in NYS. None of my flock have ever show any symptoms of this, and i haven’t brought any new chickens in except for maybe a year ago from a closed flock.
