Sounds like the little brat deserved it, wait a couple years he will really be a problem.
I assume the parents don't control him if the daycare had to call the police.
Consider if he had hurt another child-------- then everyone would be saying--- WHY DIDN'T THEY DO SOMETHING!
The parents probably need to be tazed too, to wake them up that they have an uncontrolable child that will only get worst with age and size.

Why would they call the cops and not the parents?
Granted the parents are probably the reason the kid acts that way.... but where were they?

There is also some responsibility of fault for the daycare and parents here. At 1 or two years of age they don't toss a kid for slapping or hitting at another kid. They don't understand. If the parents knew this why weren't they parenting better? If the kid has a mental defect that he can't help, then why wasn't he in more specialized care or at least have the daycare folks prepared or trained to handle it better?
I deal with kids all the time. And being licensed by the state (to work with at risk teens) with so many background checks it makes my head spin I have to be careful. But a 19 year old running at me intending to do bodily harm? Yeah, maybe, but I have to be able to take them down and subdue them with minimum of injury. If I used a taser in that situation I would loose my own kids as well as my foster kids. So why is there more of a moral responsibility placed on me than the police or daycare providers?
My point is if you can't physically handle your job, take up knitting.

When my daughter was in preschool they had a boy there who was very violent. He had been thru several daycares, and the woman who owned the daycare knew the parents, and gave the boy a chance. Well, one day he decided to have a mental fit on my daughter over a toy she was playing with. He smashed her finger with this toy, and it was bad. They called me out of work, and when I got there I saw the videotape of the whole incident. ( the daycare was one of the first to have video cameras installed. ) Anyway, my daughter takes after me a bit, and fought back. They seperated the two immediately, but they made it clear to both me, and the boys parents who started the whole ordeal. The videotape evidence was quite clear cut, and the boy was not allowed back at the daycare again.
I didn't punish my daughter for fighting back because her being able to defend herself when attacked in my opinion was something she should do.
In my opinion, from what information was provided in this article, the police where out of line. There are ways to restrain someone without having to use a tazer. ESPECIALLY, on a 10 year old, no matter how bad the kid is.

My son at 10 had fits like that but we called em meltdown due to the fact that he has Aspergers,now if some one had tazed him all hell would break lose.we don't know all the facts yet everyone is asuming this and that,I think there is no excuse for tazing any child.Im not big and can easily take down any 10 year old,psh and I have no training.....
For at least 10 years I've been asking for a tranquilizer gun for Christmas. By the time I get one the kids will be moved out.
