Stupid fishercat

It was a fisher i saw it run off. I called my animal control officer (who happens to have chickens and is my girlfriends dad)and he said if it is bothering livestock(he said chickens count in that) that i can shoot it so i am cleaning the 12 gauge and my good ol colt 45

Live trap is the only way to get a fisher. Get a trap now...those things are blood thirsty and vicious. It will kill every chicken you have.

I am putting out a trap to my yard looks like a war zone now with 4 traps and a tree stand plus an old bunker i made for paintball which is now my comand post for this little operation i call operation extermination wish me luck

Nasty, Nasty, Critters You better get him Quick as you can. If you use a live trap keep your fingers or anyting else you wanna keep away from it! It would look cool mounted. Like in a log cabin.

The only reason you have any chicks left is because you caught the fisher cat in the act. You need to predator proof your cages/coops now. Fisher cats are not evil, but they are THE PERFECT PREDATOR. They are tenacious, wily, fast, difficult to shoot, and even harder to trap. They are weasels on steroids. (They are also my worst nightmare and the reason we can't have a cat.) Hopefully, the fisher cat you have is a juvenile and hasn't acquired a lot of experience, but if you have an oldster, you have a big problem. Predator proof everything because chances are you will not see the fisher again, just a trail of blood and feathers.

Thank you for the advice. It could not get in the "big" coop that is predator proof. I am determind to catch this thing. It is the first time that i have had a real problem with any predators.

I just lost 23 of my chickens to one (or more?) a few days ago. We have had a live trap set up but hasn't caught anything yet. I just ordered a conibear 330 trap and hopefully when I get it I can finally get rid of the fisher(s). I plan on ordering a few more conibear 220's or 330's.

I would definetly look into the conibear 220 or 330, I have been doing extensive research and it seems to work well with fishers.

Normally I don't like catching/killing animals, but these fishers are terrible animals that kill more for sport than nourishment. (atleast the ones around here do)

...any questions please ask. Like I said: I have been doing extensive research on fisher cats aswell as trapping them, I'm pretty full of info right now and am glad to help in any way possible.

You would be better off putting time, money and energy into fortifying your coop and run. Not only are fisher cats protected in many locations, many are tagged and can be identified. The fines are astronomical. Not only that, but catching a fisher cat is a dangerous bit of work- think 'wolverine' but far smarter.
