Stupid Florida Weather! Coop Flooded BAD with no end in site HELP HELP

Thank you for that little lesson with mother nature. You are funny ! I like that.
To be a bit more clear, How did he raise the coop and not the run ? are they not attached to each other ?

I am not quite sure, I know it took about 6 hours to do and three men to do it.

The hardware wire on the run is a little twisted he said because of lifting it so that has to be fixed. and the footer has to be fixed for they had to break thru the footer to get the jack under the coop.

other then that he said everything else can easily be repaired.

I will grab a picture in the morning once all the dirt is in the run, he thinks one dump truck load will do it..I dont think so

Heres hoping Mother nature leaves us along for a week so we can dry out!

there's the mistake. Should of had 6 men and 3 hrs ! Now that would of been a show ! Could of just stuck one under each corner and used one for center support and left the last one for show and tell.

Wow! Poor chickens(and you and your family). Mother nature can be so strange. California is in such a bad drought and you're getting more than enough rain.

Your coop is a mess, but you can totally see the care & love you lavished on it and your chickens. I love your nesting box curtains! Here's hoping your coops & chicks are snug & dry in no time! If I could take some of your rain, I would. We are roasting, baking, & burning here in sunny Ca.

Todays flood pics, we are slowly drying out, The back half of the coop is being closed up now, they put enough dirt in it to dry it out so Gandolph and his girls will get a couple of hours of sun and fun.

Unfortunately Nugget and his girls will have to wait till tomorrow.

The rain in that area is about 3 inches high still

That door you see at the very back is Gandolphs coop, it is BRAND new and not even finished. They have been in there all day thank goodness they have lots of windows. Therun back there is now done and they are putting back up the hardware wire. We will let them out for a couple of hours of sunlight in about 30 mins. YAY

One of our guys hard at work trying to fix up the coop. That was a FULL 16 yard pile of dirt, we tried to use the tractor but all it did was get stuck., It all had to be moved..by hand. My guys have done AMAZING work and I am so thankful for their help.

Our laneway still underwater but it can wait till later, chickens get fixed first

Compared to the first set of pictures we have really dryed out but we have alot of repairs and cleaning up to do.

What is so sad is Central Citrus is getting pounded with rain as I type this and they are showing peoples homes being flooded. It really needs to stop raining.


Also, if I can give one word of advice for people planning/building new coops --- build expecting the worse! We have never seen this sort of flooding before BUT we are changing the coop in the next few weeks so that if it EVER happens again..they will be ok.


I hope tomorrow to show pictures of all my birds happily eating some meal worms and enjoying their dry run!!

I'm sorry you're going through this. What a mess. I've always built my coops at least 3 feet up off the ground. We've had summers with drought over the years, then flooding rains other years including this year and last year. It seems it's one extreme or the other.
Dont give your birds antibiotics. Keep in mind that mold and fungus will cause respiratory disease-like symptoms and antibiotics wont treat fungal issues. Once you can get power out to your coops, perhaps fans will help dry the wood quicker preventing mold and fungus. I wish you the best.

If they start showing fungal issue illness is there anything I can do?

I hope they dont get sick I have been so stressed over THAT more then anything. My pets are well..pampered and all my chickens are pets..not just chickens.

So is there anything I can do if they do start to show illness??

Todays Pics!!!

Gandolph and his girls are outside!! They have no toys or anything thou we are going to wait a few days more before adding back them

and unfortunately Nugget and His crew are still coop bound BUT we figure this afternoon they too will be out!!

ANd Nuggets Crew waiting patiently for the doors to open

so now I wait and hope no one shows signs of illness, I am hoping because they are such healthy, well fed and cared for birds that they won't get sick. Just wait and see.

Laneway is still under water, monday they start bringing in crushed concrete for it. The laneway is about 900 feet long and runs thru our woods so next week should be fun .

Today I am a very happy camper, my birds will be BACK in their runs

I found out that my first grandbaby is a GIRL!!!!
