Stupid Neighbors!!

super soaker water gun (citronella oil diluted into the water) or a spray from a hose with some pressure behind it right in the rear worked for us, no injury caused just bruised ego on the dogs part and it stank awfull till they bathed it.

Dogs in my neighborhood roam free as well. Most people here don't have fenced yards, so the dogs run around as a big pack. We put up a fence and inside that built another one to keep our dogs separated from our chickens and away from the exterior fence so they won't dig under to join the pack. One of the neighbor dogs started climbing fences a couple months ago and killed one of my chickens. The neighbor saw it because he brought the chicken to her. I now keep my hens in a covered samll run instead of letting them free-range. The dog still comes and jumps all over the run, freaking my birds out. Neighbor told me to just scare him away, but he returns a few minutes later. I got my son a paintball gun for Christmas; curious to see how well it works. The dog is at a kennel now while the owners vacation, but I assume he'll be back next week. I will let the owner know what I'm up to.

Yes, it hurts big time. It depends on how high the air pressure is turned up. You can freeze the paint balls too if you really want to crank up the pain factor but then there will be no paint on them.

Read what was going on and it reminded me of some dog-mace I saw for sale the other day.

Got this off of a quick google. Might help train their dog to stay out of your yard (or at least tuck and run when he sees you). Might annoy the neighbors that they must keep bathing their dog to get the spray off too... And it's a 'no harm' thing too so they can't say you're hurting their dog like they could with BBs or paintballs.

I have also had a friend offer to let us borrow his highly trained "monster dog" lol. He is a gigantic shepherd and is trained to subdue and hold. He has never broken the skin but he sure keeps any unwanted visitors off of his land. I am thinking one trip under Maverick's teeth could solve the problem. I am just afraid that something would go wrong and one of them would end up getting hurt. I really don't want to hurt the dog, I just want it to stay in their yard! I would probably not aim to actually hit it with the bb gun unless it was actually coming after our chickens or something. I do know how to use the bb gun now though and the trashcan out front has been thouroughly diciplined! (lol)

Mace is for bad people. Direct Stop or Fight Stop is for bad dogs. You can get it at PetSmart, though you may have to ask the manager for it. As a professional pet sitter/dog walker, I've used it many times, and it has never failed to deter a dog.

Re: the dog pooping in your yard. Had the same thing going on with the neighbor's Golden. One day when I had had enough, I scooped it all up, rang the neighbor's bell and handed the bag to her. She looked at me like, "What?!?!" I told her her dog had left something on my lawn and I was just returning it. Worked for about a week. So I just started flinging poo back into her yard. Didn't solve the problem, but sure made me feel better

Had a friend get shot by a frozen paintball. Despite the fact that he was wearing the armor and everything, it left a nasty mark. I think ordinary paintballs would be perfectly fine, and it would give the neighbors even more incentive to keep their dog under control.
