Stupid PUNKS!

I'm a cop and there is no way a solid mailbox would be considered an assault!!

No they don't. My oldest "punk" did that to mailboxes. I didn't find out til years later. But here is where you get to laugh.
Somehow one of the mailboxes hit back...and broke his nose! Served him right. Of course he didn't tell me the real reason it was broken. But it hurt ALOT to have them fix it. Had to shove gauze up there to straighten it out.
I think that "straightened him out"!

BTW He is an ex marine now who served in Iraq 3 times. So he turned out alright.

Sorry you have to deal with kids like that. I did try to control mine, but sometimes they just find a way...

Been a rash of that around here lately too. I counted over 20 smashed mailboxes on the way to town yesterday. Bet it's the kids of whoever drives by my place and tosses their beer cans and bottles on my property, then cuts donuts in my field.

There's absolutely no respect for anybody else's property these days!

PS: They just outlawed brick mailboxes here, because our roads are narrow and we have a lot of farm equipment and dually trucks using 'em. So no 'solid' mailboxes, and they have to be far away from the road's edge.

Urgh. I'm sorry. I can't comprehend anyone sitting around thinking up ways to make life harder for other people. How is it not obviously stupid to them? Some people take forever to develop any sort of empathy.

I think those that do it are angry at life, and feel like they are owed something. My son did. It was a blessing that he went into the military. He knew he needed help and that is why he inlisted.

It doesn't make it any easier for you though.

Has there ever been a case brought to court because someone filled their mailbox pole with concrete and some idiot hurt themselves with it? If there is an article saying so, then please link to it.

All my fence poles have been set in concrete. Not because I want to prevent someone from knocking them over but because I want them to be sturdy. If my dogs jump at the fence, I don't want it falling over. I don't think anyone would charge me with a crime if someone came on my property and knocked one of my fence post over.

If Gray Dragon waits outside in camo pant and jumps at the teens with the concrete pole, that would be assault. I'd actually love to see that.

I had a problem with them till I took 4" steel pipe, filled with concrete, buried 6' of it, then put the plastic mailbox post around that, filled that with concrete and topped with mailbox. Woke up at 1am because stupid kids wrapped their car around it. One of them lost teeth in the process, and the other one bounced off the windshield. I doubt the cops even looked twice at my mailbox as those stupid kids were carted away, the tow truck dragging the car away, and I pressed charges on those stupid kids to boot.

It was an expensive lesson...... and this is when I lived in the city still! With the liberal judges we have in the county I live in, I was surprised but the cops around my old house commented those punks had it coming.

If you have the room to set it back off the road about 10 feet with a pull off for the mailman, the punks will usually blow right past it on their rampage with a baseball bat out the car window, leaving yours untouched but others that can be reached from the road smashed in both directions.

We had the same problem of punks smashing our mailbox when we first moved here. We live in a well wooded area far from the main road, so we automatically knew it would be a target. So to test the waters, we bought a cheap plastic mailbox, months went by then one day, broke to pieces. So we bought another ....... only two weeks later hit again, but it did not bust ... so my DH filled that box with concrete and we bought a steel one for about $40 and set it next to it

. And believe me we know some punks have had their bells rung when they have hit it, it must of jarred the far outta their arms cause we found a piece of metal pipe next to our boxes one day

. We have had the steel one hit once too , I'm sure that felt nice as well
