Stupid Question #3

What does it mean when a duck flaps its wing and stands strait
my duck always does this when it is out of the cage also when i get it and hug it after i let go it does it again
does that mean anything or is just stretching?

I don't know what it means but I think that is one of the cutest things my boys do. I love the tippy-toe dance while flapping!

I call it the "I'm okay wing-flap." It is a stretch, but it seems to communicate to the rest of the flock that the duck is okay. I've seen them do it after breeding behavior, after being frightened, after being picked up for medication.

owww i thought it was the "i am free flap" or the "freedom flap"

Mine do it for no reason at all. The "I am free flap" seems to make sense!

mine do it to, especially the hens.. at this point i think there playing with the new ability of flight..
