Stupid Question, but I need help!

Until I got the regular waterer for my chicks, I used a deep saucer with florists' marbles in it. I did have to add water several times a day, but at least the had the water available, for the short run. I would imagine some small stones would work as well, if you don't have marbles. Anything to keep them from drowning in the dish.

stones from the yard absolutely work fine, just make sure they don't come from anywhere that may have rock salt, oil or any kind of yard or household chemicals on them!!! A tiny bit of any of that can kill or make your chicks sick. If you wash them make sure they're very very well rinsed, or even boiled!!! (just the once to get any gunk out of them)

Don't be scared to use stones, just make sure they're chemical free!
