Stupid question from first time turkey owner.....

Ok, I see pics of some turkeys with their big fan tails and some pics have the tails down and the wild turkeys I see have tails down. My question is: Do some breeds have the fan tails and others not or do they just do that when displaying and all of them can look like that? Do they just take the pics then so they look fancy in the catalogs?

they fan their tails an strutt.they do that during breeding or just to display for the hens.

All Tom will display (fan their feathers out). It does make them look better in the pictures if they are displaying, yes? They strutt for the females.
