Can an EE have tufts instead of muffs? If not then what might it be? It is black and white with slate or grey leggs and a real tint tail.

Sounds more like a true Aracauna. They have tufts and are rumpless (no tail).

This chick has no tail feathers but some little short feathers that curl down where the tail should be. Anyone else have thoughts on what breed it could be?

Sounds like you have a REAL Araucana. Lucky you.

Now, Easter Eggers can come without tails and with tufts, but it is a very rare case that is caused by a breeder owning Araucanas. Like, ahem, me.

There! I finally got these pictures loaded on here thanks to my son... I am such a computer idoit...so what I need to know is, is this actually an Aracona and if so can anyone tell if it is a cock or a hen? If it is a cock I have someone who wants it so I need to know what to tell him. Thanks !

Easter Egger, not araucana. Those are not tufts, they are muffs. Here is a true araucana with tufts:
