I'm new to chicken owning .. So bantam means small breeds? Where is the point in it? Do they lay tiny eggs?

Bantam means "not stantard".

No, Bantam is a word that defines standard fowl that are 1/4 to 1/5 the size of large fowl. All accepted breeds and their varieties have breed standards and are "standard" fowl. Many incorrectly think that standard means large fowl. Standard bred chickens are made up of large fowl and bantams.
