Stympy feathers on tail

I had one in there for them because they like to sleep outside in the run at night. during the fall it gets cold
Chickens are well equipped to handle the cold. They do not need the heat lamp. Heat lamps have burned many coops to the ground. It also prevents the birds from acclimating to their environment and can cause death if you get a power failure and they are suddenly plunged into much colder temperatures.
Chickens need protein to grow healthy feathers. What is the percentage of the protein in the feed you are giving them? How much do you feed for treats?

And for your information I feed them healthy harvest layer feed which includes real fruits and vegetables in the mix no pesticides and is non-GMO I also give them treats such as watermelon and in the summer and pumpkin sometimes in the fall. As you can see these chickens get very well fed.
Also can you check out my other thread it's about my duckling that's swallowed a metal chain I need help on that too.
And yes no to all the questions
Thanks for clearing all that up.
I hope they are continue to improve! Good luck:)

I only feed about one slice of watermelon a day for feed the percentage of protein is about 50% to 70%.

Please check the tag on your feed bag. Feeds run between 16 and 24% depending on the formulation.
I suggest choosing and all flock type feed with a protein content of 18-20% with a container or two of oyster shell on the side.

Oh yeah that's the measurement of protein sorry I just got it mixed up with the weights of my ducklings
#1 you don't have predators until you do.
#2 Get them roosting inside the coop at night and with the doors securely closed. I go out just before dark and put everyone of my birds that are not a roost up. They have also learned the word up. Chickens can't see in the dark and can't get up if they can't see the roost. It might take several nights to a week for them to learn to roost. You'll be glad you did it now before the snow files. Everynight so they get in the habit.
#3. Can you go back to your profile and add the state or country you live in.It helps us help you.

look I get where you're going with me putting them in the roosting place at night but the thing is they really don't like it in there other than to lay their eggs and when it gets super cold. I don't want to force them to do something that they're not going to like so I know you're just trying to help but that information I am not going to use. Also I do live in the United States
