Styrofoam

Does anyone know why chooks love eating styrofoam? Obviously I do not let them but if any gets left around they really get stuck into it.

lol, we had an old styrofoam box that we used for chicks, and it sort of found a home in the garden... every time the chooks got near they would slowly eat it bit by bit.
No idea why they like it so much. Oh well, they were okay.
