Subscribe to Forum

It would be handy if I could subscribe to an entire forum, like BST, and so would get an email anytime someone posted something.

If you subscribed to the entire forum, your ISP would hate you!

We have posts every minute of every day in multiple threads.

Best is just to subscribe to threads that interest you. Then when you come to browse, you can check out other threads.

Oh, no I meant a particular subForum.... like Buy Sell Trade... or Breeds, Genetics & Showing, not a topic or the entire Forum

I use this feature religiously whenever it's available, and I so miss it here. Actually, my guess is that it would work the BYC server much more than my ISP

You mean get an email for each new thread in BST? That would be lots of emails for sure.

It is kinda on the list of suggestions in the form of an RSS feed: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=294018#p294018

That way you could put it into your rss reader or use a service to email you as it is updated.

I don't use RSS like that but yes, I think it's basically the same option, except a lot forum software has that feature built in or available via add-on or plug-in... I think that is also true for Pun.

I would like to for instance subscribe to Everything Else BST... today so far that would've been 10 emails, assuming I wasn't online already when any of them were posted... it doesn't email you everytime there is a post to a topic, only when a new topic is created. You would have to subscribe to the topic to get every post in that topic.

The RSS feature for sub-forums is already available. Just go to the forum you want. Look up in the location bar and it should say something like this: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewforum.php?id=7. Remember the number at the end. Now substitute the number for the letter N in the below url. That's your rss feed. Is that clear as mud?
