Our coop is an old converted shed. It currently has a dirt floor. The chicks are going to be going out there today or very very soon & I was wondering if I can leave it dirt or do I need to add pine shavings?
In their brooder that are in now they have Equine Fresh pellets. Will it be safe to switch them from the Equine Fresh to pine shavings? Hopefully they wont eat the shavings...

Goodness, you should see my chicken coop! The floor is made of old bricks that are falling apart and underneath it is dirt, what you could do is buy some cheap vinyl and put that down and then put shavings down. That would work as a charm,

Will you eventually be doing deep litter method, or are you planning on cleaning regularly? I have vinyl floors myself, but I believe dirt floors work really well if you're doing deep litter (type "deep litter method" into the search box upper right). Pine bedding if fine. They may sample it on occasion (mine still do as adults), but it'll be fine. Good luck on their move!
