Hi everyone

We are new to the world of keeping chickens. My wife and I homeschool our 5 daughters and we live in the suburbs outside of Grand Rapids, MI USA. This last march we started our adventure by getting 6 isa browns chicks. All are doing well in their new coop I built in the back yard. We only have a 1/4 acre suburban lot but we are gardening and keeping chickens. The plan is our garden feeds the chickens and the chickens help feed the garden. and of course the garden and the chickens help feed us. So far so good we are averaging 5 eggs a day and we are having fun with it.

I'm originally from Traverse City Michigan but have lived most of my life in Florida. My brother still has a farm up there. Do you have an apron around the bottom of your coop and run to prevent predators from digging under? Good luck with your flock and have fun...
