I did my first successful (I hope) bumblefoot surgery today.

I want to thank all of you on this site for all of the great information you post and for your encouraging words that give wimps like me the courage to deal with things like this. Below is a picture of what I took out of her foot. Now I just have to make sure the hole that was left stays clean and dry. If it weren't for all of the great information (and people) on this site I wouldn't have known what to do to treat this. THANK YOU ALL. A special thinks to you, CMV.

Good job!!!

I keep the hole clean by using a small piece of cotton. Soak in in provodone iodine and gently push it into the hole on the bottom of foot and wrap. Change it every day. Each day the piece of cotton will get smaller as the hole heals from the inside up. It shouldn't scab. Just make sure the cotton fits into the hole and there isn't a lot outside so when she walks it doesn't feel like she is stepping on a stone.

No whimps here....just us chicken crazy people.

Thanks for the cotton tip! After the surgery, I filled the hole with neosporin, covered it with gauze, and wrapped her foot with vet wrap. Truly wonderful thing, that vet wrap! Tomorrow I will try your cotton suggestion. Thank you again
