so, as i’ve mentioned previously, i have too many roos and not enough hens. while all of my boys are friendly ( a bit skittish, though ), they were starting to wear the hens down and starting to squabble with each other more. 5 roos to 9 hens is not a good ratio no matter how friendly you think your boys are. however, i was able to find someone wanting another roo ( one of my coworkers, actually ) and today was the day i took him to his new home.

he was terrified at first and kept pacing behind me and calling for his flock, but soon forgot everything when he saw coworker’s hens. they didn’t mind his presence and porky immediately tried to strut his stuff. then he got chased around by some guineas who realized he was a stranger. they eventually stopped but Porky didn’t want to get off the porch after that haha. when i was going to leave, he did eventually decide he wanted to go check out the new hens again and that’s the last i saw of him.

though, i’ve been asking about him ( hey, i get attached to my chickens ) to see how his first night was going and she said he followed the girls right into the coop without any issue. porky’s already favoring one of the hens but is still surrounded by the rest. he’s an absolute Casanova. he’s taken over the flock and is finally the top dog after being ranked low in the pecking order in his original flock.

porky is honestly in rooster heaven with all these hens that seem to like him a lot already and no competition from other roosters.

i’m just happy i was able to find someone willing to take in my 23 week old roo and give him a better home.

That's wonderful! Porky is a handsome boy. Those lucky hens! ;)
yeah, he’s really pretty, especially his hackle feathers. they have this silky, black look to them. anyways, yeah, he’s definitely a ladies roo. they were already warming up to him as soon as i set him down near them.

He is super pretty! I recently rehomed a few roosters. One in particular, Mr. Scraggle Raggles, a mille fluer d'uccle, went to live with 14 hens! He is a proud happy young man! I sent him off with a lady friend too, so it made his integration easier! Here he is sporting his new lady friends. Warms my heart to see them happy!🥰
