I bake egg shells in the oven, crunch them up and then spread them around my vulnerable veggies. Keeps slugs from getting to them as they don't like climbing over the sharp shells worked a treat with my kale, broccoli and cabbages

Nice! And if you plant tomatoes, they grow well with eggshells.
