We have 6 hens and they are about 6 months old. Today I noticed one of our RIR had a dip in her feathers so I looked more and noticed that she was missing a fair amount of feathers and it was down to skin and was red (not bleeding but seems close). I observed for a while and noticed only 1 picking on her so I put her in the hen house. I don't want to isolate the RIR, it isn't her fault she was picked on but I don't know what to do long term. Is this normal? How to stop it? I will give them more "activities" in the coming days to keep them all busy. She is one of my 3 laying girls right now. The other 3 haven't started laying yet.

Thanks in advance.

there is a product called " ROOSTER BOOSTER PICK NO MORE" feed stores should have it, its a lotion you put on the bald spot, it will aid in healing cuts, and will stop them from pecking, if they peck her when she has that on, they will not like the taste of the lotion and stop pecking her, its not bad for the chickens, it just tastes bad to them.
