Sudden Chick Death Syndrome??

Oh no it's a ceramic heater for reptiles. I learned at young age when my sister turned on the oven with teflon pans in there and it killed all of my mom's birds. One by one. It was awful and sad. :(

So what causes that then? How do I prevent it? How do I treat the symptoms? Where did it come from? I don't know if I'm searching it wrong or I'm just so upset about losing my little chicks but everything I am reading is so vague on the how the infection starts with chicken eggs that came all the away from across the US. :caf:barnie

Wet contaminated feed..Spores grow on damp feed..
I only feed bagged feed Medicated Chick starter till 8 weeks..

I would suspect mareks or botulism
They are too young to have the paralysis from marek's and the remaining chicks are doing ok. I did notice some dark brown droppings from someone but, they are all lively... except one she is just kind of sitting there snoozing while everyone else is just going on about their day.

Medicated syarter is only bad for them if they have been vaccinated. When i incubate i start with medicated

So sorry for your loss. Its heartbreaking i know. I lost 9 3 week olds i hatched in a span of 15 minutes...let them out to change the bedding with my 6 yr old chicksitting (my fault) and hawks came from nowhere...devastated my daughter
