Sudden death during bumblefoot treatment

A couple of years have passed since your post but I’m reading it because it just happened to me. I can only assume the stress was too much for my Rhode Island Red. I have over 40 chickens and have never experienced bumblefoot. Feeling terrible about it.

Please do not assume everyone has access to vets who treat chickens. Many people do not have this privilege.
It was probably very painful for him. Imagine if someone performed surgery on your foot without proper medical training or meds to help with the pain? I suggest next time you take him to see a vet who sees chickens. Here is a directory of them - http://www.poultrydvm.com/poultry-vets.php

Thanks for letting me know. My senior hen recently died from a secondary infection or underlying cause in addition to bumblefoot. She had a very deep set infection that we had battled with for over three years that kept coming back after soaks, surgeries, antibiotics -- I did everything I could and don't have access to chicken vets in rural Ecuador. So this comment hit a nerve. I'm glad this rude and callous person is no longer on the forum.
