After losing my broad breasted turkey Tom I got 3 heritage breed males they seemed healthy and fine but yesterday I found jive much in the same way I found my broad breasted turkey. I found vague hints to sudden death in turkeys being related to kidney function. Any ideas?

I feed scratch n peck starter 21percent protein with lots of free range time. He was a little over a year seemed healthy died in his sleep in his usual spot. I live in the pnw so mild climate.

Do they range with chickens? What does their feces look like? Was the head color normal or pale and yellowish? If you still have the bird perform a post mortem and check the liver, spleen and disect the small intestine looking for damage to the mucosal lining and villi. Let us know what your observations are but I would start the remaining birds on a broad spectrum anti-biotic to prevent further losses.

Blessings,

Bo
