Sudden move north in winter

Contact your State Veterinarian and they should be able to put you in touch with the right person.
I’m afraid of what the vet (if there is one near me) will charge. Most are avian exotics vets and won’t even consider looking at a chicken. Parrots are the thing in south Florida. Waiting for the return email so I can call for $$.
Thanks for the support!

Thanks for all the support! I already feel better about all of this!
It may be better for my chicks to rehome them anyway. South Florida to Minnesota is a vary long ride for chickens.
I would worry about making sure they go to a good home though, and would cry letting them go!
This whole deal is vary stressful! Trying to get out of my lease, find enough moving money, packing, sorting out vet visit and paperwork, job transfer ect, ect, ect, with no warning or preparation. There is no emoji for how I feel right now!
I really want my feathers to come with me but I understand reality.

I agree that it might be best for your birds if you find them new homes before you leave. I would imagine that traveling that far would be very stressful for them (and you). You have so much on your plate already, with your dad being sick and everything else. I hope you can find a good solution. You can always start a new flock once you get moved and settled. I know they won't be your same pets, but at least you could have chickens again.

Sorry for my mood swings....:th
I am taking you guy advice.
Absolutely nothing to be sorry for! You have so many things to figure out, and if you're like me, you'll change your mind 50 times in an hour over each and every one of those things. For now, take it a step at a time. Just one step. Then another. Breathe, then write down the pros and cons of moving your chickens that far. It sounds like you have family here in MN, so maybe they can help you find housing, and get you job contacts. Most of all, take care of you so you can help your dad. :hugs:hugs:hugs

Thank you everyone!
The 4H ag office is a good idea! I will check that.
I do have family and friends in Winona. I was actually planning to ask a few friends if I could keep my chickens at one of their farms temporarily while I buy a place. Family is helping and my job will transfer me no problems, thank goodness.
:bow:clap
I had vaguely hopped I wouldn’t need anything vet wise for my 11 chickens, or that it at least won’t cost a few hundred or more, yes pipe dreams.
Today was pet research day.:hmm
