Hello I’m somewhat new here and find myself in a spot.
Due to family medical issues I need to make a sudden move back to south east Minnesota from south Florida as soon as possible.
I really want to bring my eleven chickens with me.

Do I need to worry about the temperature change?

I also will need a place for them to stay while I buy a house, but I have some friends I’m going to ask.

Is there anything else besides transportation laws to consider?

The plan is to get a USDA loan to buy one of the small country homes available in the area and add a coop if there isn’t one. (The place I have my eye on has a large building as well as the house.)

Contact the Minnesota Department of Agriculture and they can tell you what permits and tests that you need to have done on your flock in order to legally bring them into Minnesota.

I'm in SE MN, and if you're coming up soon the weather has been pretty nice still. They will have time to acclimate before it gets too cold. It's supposed to be holding in the mid to high 70's for as far as my phone weather can see haha. I don't think the temp change would be enough to shock them at this time of year. As far as going across state lines I don't know anything about that.

Thanks, I already have that covered. CVI issued within 30 days of move date, need one for my cat too. That’s just Minnesota’s requirement though.

Thank you.
That’s good to know, not sure exactly when, depends on my current landlord. But hope as soon as possible! Warm is good.

ooooo.... your post made me realize that transporting poultry across state lines can have legal ramifications. I looked at the state I am moving to and I don't think I can bring my flock and will have to start over there :hit
I’m so sorry to hear that! I know how much it hurts to lose them!
I just hope I can find a poultry vet for mine or I’ll be doing the same.:barnie:hit
