sudden onset frozen in fear

this morning both of my silkies were doing what they normally do they ate some watermelon and tomatos. I left them to do their thing for about 2 hours, when I went to check on them they are acting very strangely. fifi is standing frozen and making a low gurgling. if she were a dog I would say a soft growl. she wont even move for dried mealworms ( her favorite). puff is just laying under the coop but she wont move for the worms either. I can't figure it out. they both were full of energy this morning. there is no discharge from an obvious infection and I havent seen any injuries. Please help.

Very likely there was a hawk in the area. It may even have attempted to catch your birds. What you describe is a typical reaction to an aerial attack.
