Hope everyone is doing well and your birds too!
Noticed this starting beak splitting Yesterday night while I was attending them.
I’ve only seen this on baby parrots
, usually is an injury caused by their parents being too rough while feeding or some babies having a too soft beak due to deficiencies.
I never expected to see this in a chicken
specially one that I know it is usually relaxed and is almost by itself, because it’s company is an even younger chick. Imagine my surprise when I noticed.
Took the pics Today to have better lightning. There is no blood.
Food is getting inside that crevice, I keep wiping it off to keep it clean just in case, but as soon it goes off to peck it gets dirty again.
The inside of the beak seems normal, no splitting marks.
I went through all the posts and found this suggestion. (Post added as pic for reference).
Anything else anyone would like to add to help my little chick will be more than appreciated.
