Gabby (My rouen male) Has been acting odd the last day or two.
I might want to say it is because I put them in a new coop and moved their run. but it is only a few feet from their old run. It's more like a big pen. they have the back half under trees and into the trees and a more open area, they can go around back of the coop into the more covered area if they want.

he seems fine when I moved the yesterday, they have been in that area few times before forging.

I was sitting outside with them like I usually do in their pen, talking, he and the others were talking back to me, they come over nibble my arms and toes and such. I noticed Gabby's "hair' on the back of her neck and head would fluff out now and then, he stretched his neck out and boop flew right over the fence. well he didn't go anywhere really, the others was like WHAT The?? we can do that?
Izzy my chicken said oh that looks fun, so she went. no big deal really.

I went and picked up Gabby and was like what is the matter?? he leaned his head on my face, I kissed him on the head and put him and izzy back. Mind you though Gabby his friendly he doesn't prefer to be picked up but this time he seemed to like it
Plus he is about 3 1/2 months now and they are all starting to get into the more relaxed stage around me.

I got an sit back with them, now they all hang around me often preening, checking out what i am doing, nibbling me, Gabby just seemed nervous. then He just decided he was a flamingo. He lifted a leg, tucked his head into his feathers and slept, just a few feet from me, he would usually go and lay with the other ducks. He stayed like that for at least 5 minutes until I got up

You think this is because I changed their area? Like I said it is only about 10 feet from their old area, and I thought rouens wouldn't fly over low fencing, (it's only like 2 feet high)
Thanks

See my profile pic, Blossom has her feathers sticking up because she was witnessing a ruckus. He could have seen something and just realized he could fly. Or just did it right before he flew. Mine will run and their feathers stick up, then fly.
Also, the leg tuck and head tuck in the wing feathers is a sign of contentment.
Your animals feel safe. :love

Sorry for the quick reply before, I was eating and ice cream cone and that makes it hard to type LOL

Your duck is so pretty.

As for Gabby flying, no it was his first time,
I sit in the coop with them, (it's relaxing) I sit on one of those low beach chairs, so gabby was standing in front of me and I was talking to them like I always do, while I was talking to him I was doing the yes movement with my head up and down, and he started to with me, they he stuck his neck up, stood there and went off over the fence.

It is hard to reply with an ice cream cone in one hand. :drool:lol:
Thank you, she is my favorite one. Though she can be ornery with the chickens. Lol
It sounds like Gabby was excited. He sounds like a duck with a lot of personality.
