Suddenly sick hen/ new to this and need help!

It’s horrible to watch, losing two of my favorites in a weeks time just feels lousy… poor thing.
Do you have a scanning thermometer? You can move feathers out of the way and point it at her vent and get an approximation of her temp..or, here’s a way to do it the analog way.

“Chickens have a much higher body temperature than humans do. Normal chicken body temperature ranges from about 105 to 107 degrees Fahrenheit. Just as with humans, it can vary a little depending on time of day, wither the chicken is stressed, or whether she's eaten recently.

Only take the temperature of adult chickens, not baby chicks. If your chicken seems ill and you want to check her temperature, you can do it by yourself, but it's really much easier with assistance: one person can hold your hen still, while the other can use the thermometer. Please get assistance if possible. An assistant has two hands to restrain your chicken safely, while you have a better angle to see what you're doing.

What is regular chicken body temperature?

If you're by yourself, in order to take your chicken's temperature, you'll need to restrain her with one arm. You want her bottom facing forward. Her wings should be held to her sides between your arm and your body, and her legs should be held with your hand. When she is restrained, insert a lubricated rectal thermometer into her cloaca with your other hand. Just an inch or so is far enough. Do be sure she's firmly but gently restrained, because if she starts struggling she could break the thermometer or really hurt herself!”

It doesn’t feel bloated anymore but Ive never checked what it’s normally supposed to feel like. She’s looking around some but just seems spacey. Gosh idk how to explain it all but she just looks sad. Her crest has never been red/brighter and she’s always looked like a raven to us so I can’t tell how dehydrated she is.
Touch her legs and see if they feel nice and warm. Nice and warm is a good sign.

Her feet and legs are still warm. can chickens have seizures or hallucinate? shes doing a repetitive head motion where she looks like shes trying to chomp a bug out of the air... shes looking rough, can't stand a falling to either side/ laying on her side. I just feel like shes miserable... she took a little water and then all of this happened. I really do appreciate your help.

They can have seizures. So sorry you're going through this :hugs Do you have any corn syrup? If so try giving her an eye dropper of that in case her blood sugar is low from not eating.

Okay, i will. If I don't have corn syrup is honey or maple syrup okay or not? I feel so bad for her, shes a sweetheart and has just let me handle her with ease through all of this. I'm getting the tube feeding supplies now.
