Suddenly sick hen/ new to this and need help!

Do you want to learn how to tube feed? If so, the first thing she need is to be tubed fluids, lots of fluids.
I'm not opposed to learning, but have NO experience with chickens before march of this year. She is breathing funny/gargle-y/panting... so i don't want to hurt her.

I'm currently just trying with a baby medicine syringe...

That does not look like egg yolk, it looks like yellow poop, which is common in sick birds.

She is too sick to soak, soaking her could kill her.

She should not be given any calcium until her hydration status is corrected. Calcium should not be given to dehydrated birds, and all sick birds are dehydrated.

Did you know that calcium helps with muscle contractions? It does not relax muscles.
In the case of egg binding, calcium may be deficient, also contributing to thin shells which may break before passing.

I’d follow the protocols for a stuck egg..looks like egg yolk..she might have shards of shells in there..warm soaks w epsom, give some calcium and magnesium to relax muscles..
I believe she laid one yesterday... but would another egg "push" stuff out in the next coupl days? I haven't seen anymore discharge and no swelling other than her chest. I'll have to go out to get epsom salt to keep around

Well, as the other poster said it might not be that at all..it’s hard to diagnose via picture. Do you think it’s poop, or yolk? Two pretty different things to treat, I don’t want to give faulty advice..
edit..from Gail Damerow’s book Chicken Health Handbook..there are several causes of yellow diarrhea..

could it be tapeworm, or has their food gotten wet recently and grown a mold?

Epsom salts are a good item to have, but trust me, you do not want to soak this hen, it could kill her.

It was runny/sticky, but is such a bright yellow... so I honestly don't know. I've never seen any of our chickens have yellow poop. I really appreciate any advice on it because i'm at a loss otherwise!

I edited..could their food have been spoiled, eaten a bad mushroom, or be tapeworm?
