Suddenly sick hen/ new to this and need help!

Well, as the other poster said it might not be that at all..it’s hard to diagnose via picture. Do you think it’s poop, or yolk? Two pretty different things to treat, I don’t want to give faulty advice..
edit..from Gail Damerow’s book Chicken Health Handbook..there are several causes of yellow diarrhea..

could it be tapeworm, or has their food gotten wet recently and grown a mold?
I just scrubbed their water containers yesterday and didnt notice any mold or anything abnormal with them... but I will check their feeder more thoroughly. DO you know how quickly that could impact all of the birds? She is the only one noticably sick atm.

It was runny/sticky, but is such a bright yellow... so I honestly don't know. I've never seen any of our chickens have yellow poop. I really appreciate any advice on it because i'm at a loss otherwise!
Well, the most common cause of yellow diarrhea in poultry is Colibacillosis, if it is in fact that, I’d follow the other poster’s efforts to rehydrate, but, it’s not very encouraging. I’d hope for broken egg..
  • Colibacillosis is a major cause of morbidity, mortality, and economic loss for all types of poultry worldwide.
  • Avian pathogenic E coli (APEC), the causative agent of colibacillosis, encompass a diverse grouping of E coli, most of which harbor large virulence plasmids.
  • Control of colibacillosis is problematic due to widespread antibiotic resistance among APEC, restrictions on use of antimicrobial agents in poultry, and lack of vaccines to provide protection against all types of APEC causing colibacillosis.
Although, I can’t find that yellow diarrhea is mentioned in pics or documentation online in poultry as the dominant symptom. Thinking horses and not zebras, tape worm, or broken egg seem more likely, but, tough without an exam or vet visit..

Okay, I can send that list to my husband to get on his way home from work.
Great! Have him pick up the air line first. That way, when he gets to the feed store he can make sure it fits (the syringes come with luer slip or catheter tips and I am not sure which one fits the air line.

So many things can cause a bright yellow poop, including dehydration. Has she pooped more since being in the house? If so, can you post pictures of her poop?

It’s probably not that..I leapt on it since Gail lists it as most common, but, like I edited a sec ago, thinking horses and not zebras, what could be most likely..tapeworm? Broken egg? Or some other bug that causes yellow diarrhea? I’m so sorry you have to deal with this..I know how much I love mine..
edit..was it foamy at all? Coccidiosis has foamy yellow as a symptom..no, I checked pics, they don’t look like yours..I’m going to stop..the color to me looked like yolk, but, I could be so wrong, so..maybe someone out there has seen it before..

Try not to freak out. When I've had them poop that color yellow, it's been just the one hen, never more. :hugs

Hi, I currently have one sick hen from our flock of 11... This is our first year with a flock so we are learning yet.
She was fine last night and seemingly okay this am when they were let out of the coop. She is usually SO friendly and greets you as you walk up
Her symptoms now:
-Yellow discharge, not thick, a little bit
- Can't stand/bare weight
- lethargic
- NOT eating or drinking
-gas/air bubble in chest that I can feel
- barely making noise, just muted little chirps

She just looks so sad...
We lost a chicken to a our neighbors dog last weekend so they went from free ranging 90% of the day to being back in their run this week...
I just cant lose another sweet girl :( ANY help is appreciated

Is this a normal sitting posture for her? This looks like when mine scoot their butts up against a wall right before they lay an egg..

I think I’m losing her. I went in to check and she’s like looking at the sky/back and I’ve never seen that. I picked her up and it like shocked her back to reality. :( :( then she threw up a ton of fluid. No poop though.

Not really. She’s leaning forward/flopped to one side now. She jumped onto my shoulder when I was holding her a second ago but she’s looking up and breathing weird.
