Sugar Water and new babies - Update! They are here!!

I have never provided anything to mom or chicks other than starter and have a very large fenced and netted yard for mom and babies. She has always had them out eating and doing what mom's do to teach them. I have a hen recovering from a dog attack in the broody house or they would have been out there but she should be ready to move to the "big girl" house when we return so I am hoping that they will be ready to move as well. Both my Grandmothers had hens and it seems that there was never this much stress! Went many times to the Post Office to pick of a chirping box!

I really want to thank everyone so much for all the advise and encouragement! So looking forward to going to the Post Office tomorrow or when they call. I am even going to get my Granddaughters from school to start this off with a BANG!!

5 Delawares and 5 New Hampshire Reds. When I opened the box they had so much room in there that I was afraid that they might have been hurt with so much space. Each one took off running as soon as I sat them down. They are so cute! I normally don't get to pick up and hold since broody momma's don't like that. What a treat!

It is actually - a little recycling - a plastic green house that we use sometimes in the winter/early spring to start seeds. A few left over pieces of deck material. They have so much room to run around and it is staying really quite warm. I have already had to raise the lamp. Easy to reach in as well. Just left one side of the top off. They are so darn CUTE!!!

Oh my! One week has gone by now and they are twice the size! I checked on them last night before bed - just like every night - and I know that they were not as big as they are today! They have tail feathers! So cute. Had one escapee this morning when I got in to see about them! Going to have to revamp the sides a little. Not ready for the outside yet.
