We are sort of scratching our heads trying to figure out a decent sized entry way for the chickens to get in and out. 12" X 12" good enough? Or should it be bigger/smaller? Our girls are Australorps, BSL, and Aussies. Thanks!

12x12 will work. I like 15x12 better. I have Buff Orps, so they are big girls too.

Build what is pleasing to your eye and in perspective with your coop. Chickens will adapt.

I had started with a much larger door....12x15 ish. found my 70lb lab would squeze in there and each the chicken food, which he tended to puke back up a few hrs later.

So i reduced my opening to like 8x10 or so. After i found the girls would sqeeze through like a 6" opening in the slats that make up my compost bin, i figured they would make it through something 2" larger. They do fine, no issues and my dog cant fit anymore.
