Can anyone suggest a less flighty, docile white egg layer? I current have a flock consisting of an australorp, an EE, light brahma, and a welsummer. I plan to get a couple more EE's, but would also love to have white eggs in the basket as well. My flock free-ranges all day and I only have a 4ft fence around my property. My girls did hop the fence a couple of times when they were in their "teenage" phase, but I do clip their wings and now that they are of laying age, they never attempt to leave the yard. My understanding is that most white egg layers are usually lighter in weight and more given to flight. I was curious if anyone can recommend a calm, perhaps less-likely-to-wander breed that could fit in well with my flock? Thanks for any suggestions!

Barred Hollands. Ideal Hatchery has them. Or Dorkings, but I think their eggs are tinted.

My brown leghorns never tried to fly. They were less friendly than my brown layers, but that really didn't matter to me as my birds aren't pets. They are better at foraging, it seems.

I had never seen Breda before. I looked them up and they are beautiful! Are they difficult to find?
We got our first from Greenfire as extra chicks. They are smart marketers, they hooked us, LOL. We have since bought some chicks from them and then won an auction for a mature trio. The male is an imported splash, very beautiful. We have hatched a few as well now. Not sure how much trouble they are to find. We should be able to supply a few come spring if you are interested.
