i'm in co here and we can get really hot, really cold and everything in between. Right now we have a rhode island red, a black sexed link, a california white, a delaware, an easter egger, a speckled sussex and a buff orphington.
They're all supposed to be really good layers and be weather hardy.

If you go up to the top of the page, and go to breeds you can search all the breeds for specifics like heat/cold tolerance. You can always clip their wings to prevent flying.... And for the stall transformation, not sure.
