Once you find something they don't like to eat, the trick is to keep the root area protected. I use bricks, logs and big stones. Mine don't eat any variety of mint--which is great because it grows quickly and there are a lot of different "colors". They don't bother with the lavender, roses or the small evergreens or the lilac bush. The roots on all of those things are well protected. Also in their run are a couple grazing frames with clover, grass and oats growing in them!
