On our newer coop we used 2 foot overhangs & covered all the soffits with hardware cloth. This allows for a lot of ventilation without allowing any rain into the building.
This winter has been so humid/wet that I still had condensation on a the lid of a chest freezer that is in the same barn. I finally added a fan that is on a timer that runs 8am-5pm to move the air, it has really helped to have the air moving all day. When your outdoor humidity is as high as it has been this winter there is only so much you can do!
