Suggestions on new chicks to flock ???

My best layer was an austrolorpe. Super friendly. My second choice would be silkies. They are broody ALOT. Great mommies and super sweet. They lay like maniacs if you keep taking their eggs although the eggs are smaller. Cochins are friendly but mine were not great layers and never ever broody. Breed I do not like are rhode island reds..no personality and flighty. Our silver spangled hamburg was a spasm too. Barred rocks are great layers and mine were head of the flock to but. Not mean.

Thanks everyone for the great advice....A lot of the chickens that I was thinking of is coming in highly recommended and I think that this is what I needed to decide on the next additions to our family...
Now the next question would be do you recommend hatching my own clutch or buying from my local farm supply store????
