Sulmtalers Thread

Congrats flypen on the new pair!
Bayocum hope your meal was delightful!

As the days have shortened and the temperature has dropped..... my 7 month old Sulmtaler pullets have kicked it in high gear and are egg laying machines!!! I am getting an egg every other day from each pullet. If they keep this up they will be 180-200 eggs a year chickens.

My cream legbars have almost completely stopped laying, I am getting one, maybe two eggs a week from each of them, and my barnies have NOT laid one single egg since they molted in September!!!

I'm definitely keeping the Sulmtalers, the others are on shakey ground, LOL

We have an impromptu head-to-head trial going on here:

Our surrogate mother (a silkie that wanted to brood) and her four chicks…. 2 Sulmtalers, 2 Bresse

ack, they are adorable, and remind me of the chicks!
I'm looking for a rooster too, and will hopefully be able to afford some hatching eggs come spring to provide a rooster and more pullets.

Keeping my fingers crossed, I have three pullets that are 24 weeks old, pinking up, no eggs yet.....

Definitely cute. I have 15 Sulmtaler eggs in the incubator right now. 11 days left and counting. It's going to be a long 11 days.

So much easier and cheaper to get a rooster. I am happy with my 2 girls.

Please post pictures of the babies when they hatch.
