Just candled my batch of eggs. I put 24 in and 22 are good. Is that good, I think so at least.
I'd say that's a very good rate so far! Keeping my fingers crossed for ya!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but Duckwing Sulmtalers do not exist.
I know the varieties I've seen are;
Gold Wheaten (I believe the term is also "red wheaten"?)
Silver Wheaten (Which is also mis-labeled as Gold Duckwing)
Blue Wheaten
White
&
Black
Greenfire farms I believe just mis-labelled them and the terminology stuck. All the UK breeders refer to them as Wheatens, Silver Wheatens, etc. (Same goes for the German breeders I've been able to translate. )
This was the information for crosses I was looking for just the other night!!I found this and I think it was posted on here before, but it uses the term Gold and also Silver.
Wheaten genetics have a multitude of options. Here are a few recipes:
- BB red male (wheaten) x silver wheaten female= 100% gold duckwing males, 100% wheaten females
- Gold duckwing male x silver wheaten female= 50% gold duckwing males, 50% BB red males, 50% wheaten females, 50% silver wheaten females
- Silver duckwing male x wheaten female = 100% gold duckwing males, 100% silver wheaten females
- Gold duckwing male x "gold" wheaten female= 50% gold duckwing males, 50% wheaten males, 50% silver females, 50% wheaten females

Trying to subscribe. New to this process. New to this breed. Have a Sulmtaler trio from GF as of Oct, 2016. Chicken keeper for 3 years now. Have never bred, but would like to continue this line. If I decide not to breed, I'll have a Rooster available. I believe he is a Gold Wheaten. I'm in Tucson, AZ.![]()
How are your fluffy Sulm's doing in the AZ heat? I lost two other lightweight breeds in our CA heatwave last summer and neither was over 5-lbs.
